The Radyr Drama Society was formed in 1982 by a group of enthusiasts living in Radyr and Morganstown. They performed their first play – ‘All in Good Time‘ by Bill Naughton – in May the following year. The group thrives entirely on the goodwill, hard work and support of its members, helpers and audiences.

RDS November 2026 production is Moriarty written by Ken Ludwig.

Our first audition evening is on Monday 27 July at 7.30pm.

Our second audition evening is on Thursday 6 August at 7.30pm.

Both auditions will be held at the New Schoolrooms, Christ Church, Heol Isaf, Radyr. CF15 8DY. Off-road parking is available at the front of the building, and also to the side of the Church.

This is an incredibly exciting play for actors. One performer plays Sherlock Holmes, another Dr. Watson, while just 3 or 4 other actors transform into around 30 unforgettable characters between them—with lightning-fast costume changes, plenty of laughs, and even a scene-stealing dog called Toby!

Whether you’re an experienced performer or have always fancied giving acting a try, we’d love to welcome you. Radyr Drama Society is a friendly, supportive group where everyone is encouraged to get involved, both on stage and behind the scenes.

Synopsis:

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are back on the case! An investigation into the Bohemian king’s stolen letters cascades into an international mystery filled with spies, blackmail and intrigue. With world peace at stake, Holmes and Watson join forces with American actress Irene Adler to take down cunning criminal mastermind Professor Moriarty and his network of devious henchmen. Five actors play over 40 roles in this adventure that has danger – and laughter! – around every corner.

Set in the world of Sherlock Holmes, Moriarty is a fast-paced comedy mystery that follows the famous detective Sherlock Holmes and his loyal companion Dr. John Watson as they investigate a series of strange crimes connected to the infamous criminal mastermind Professor Moriarty.
The story begins when the widowed Lady Irene St. Claire seeks Holmes’ protection after receiving mysterious threats and surviving several suspicious incidents. Holmes and Watson are soon drawn into a twisting case filled with disguises, hidden identities, comic misunderstandings and unexpected betrayals. Their investigation takes them from London into the English countryside as they encounter a host of colourful and suspicious characters.
Blending classic Sherlock Holmes detective storytelling with humour, theatrical surprises and witty dialogue, Moriarty keeps audiences guessing right up to its final reveal.

Ken Ludwig designed the play with doubling in mind, meaning several actors often play multiple roles throughout the production. This makes the play especially suitable for amateur drama groups and smaller theatre companies.
